Meet Matt
Woodworking found its way into my life early on. Some of my favorite childhood memories are helping my dad build things for our home, learning how raw lumber could become something useful and meaningful. My first big project was a bookshelf for my mom when I was about eight years old, and the look on her face when she saw it finished probably planted the spark that’s still burning today. Over the years, I learned through my father, YouTube rabbit holes, and eventually through my work and education as a manufacturing engineer. Every cut, carve, and finish still reminds me of those early moments when woodcraft felt like magic.
These days, I pour that same sense of wonder into the pieces I create for others. I love taking something that looks ordinary and uncovering the beauty hidden in the grain. Signs with scripture, wedding pieces that make someone smile (or cry happy tears), and anything that becomes a timeless reminder of the moments that matter most... those are the ones that fuel me. I want every piece to feel like you: inspiring, personal, and built with meaning.
Matty Westside Woodworking exists because the people I love believed in me first. My wife encouraged me to turn my passion into a business, my mom surprised me with my first logo, and I watched my sister build her own small business with courage and grit. Now, I get to give that joy forward. My hope is that every creation becomes a lasting part of someone’s home or an heirloom passed on for generations. If that happens, then I’ve done my job right.
